Topic: CanadaReads2014: Thoughts and Predictions
Use the #DiverseCanLit tag to follow along on Twitter (or TweetChat). Last week we talked about our excitement about Canada Reads 2014. Now they’re well underway! Have you been following the debates? What do you think? Below are a few of the questions we may discuss:
- How does privilege affect the debates?
- Is there a better way Donovan Bailey could have defended Half-Blood Blues or was it weak from the beginning?
- Cockroach has not been discussed much yet (as of Day 2). Does it capture “the immigrant experience”? Does it need to? Who is the audience for this book?
- Is Annabel a fair representation of the life of a intersex person?
- The Orenda has dominated the conversation so far. Is there merit to the critiques?
- Which book will win?
