Even though I didn’t sell this book, I am no less proud. I’ve been a fan of Kai’s for years and representing her with my colleague Marilyn Biderman has been a joy and I am honored to celebrate this book’s launch.
I HOPE WE CHOOSE LOVE: A Trans Girl’s Notes from the End of the World by Kai Cheng Thom is a collection of essays and poetry that examines how we handle conflict in interpersonal relationships, especially within queer and otherwise marginalized communities. The questions are complex, and Kai does not claim to have all the answers. But in her thoughtful explorations she encourages us to imagine a better way forward. This isn’t a fluffy book. I highly recommend reading with a pen and highlighter on hand and a few friends on speed-dial so you can unpack the ideas together.
The Toronto book launch will be on Saturday, September 28 at 5:00pm at Bloor/Gladstone Library and the Vancouver book launch will be on Friday, October 18 at 7:00pm at Massy Books.
