After a great day at the Toronto Writing Workshop, I’m excited to head to the Boston Writing Workshop to meet the talented writers there.
As in Toronto I’ll be taking quick pitches from writers. While I always hope to meet a fabulous potential client at conferences, my bigger goal is to give feedback that will help writers hone their query and manuscript. My biggest advice is to shake off the nerves! A big part of being a published writer is quickly describing your book to a stranger so consider quick pitch practice.
I’ll also be teaching a workshop at this conference. I get this question all the time so I’m glad to answer it in a fulsome way. Hope to see you there!
Traditional Publishing vs. Self-Publishing (Gardner Room)
Taught by Leonicka Valcius. Now more than ever, writers have options when it comes to publishing their work. And with imprints consolidating and advances trending down, self-publishing increasingly seems like an attractive path. In this introductory workshop, Assistant Agent Léonicka Valcius of Transatlantic Agency breaks down the basics of self-publishing, traditional publishing, and how writers can navigate each to maximize their opportunities for success.
