Diaspora Dialogues is one of my favorite writing organizations due to the ongoing commitment to developing and mentoring diverse writers. One of their initiatives is TOK magazine which is hosting the TOK Toronto Symposium the end of September in conjunction with Word on the Street.
I am pleased to participate in a workshop on how to pitch agents and publishers, especially after hearing so many pitches this summer! I’ll be giving tips alongside editors Janice Zawerbny and Deborah Sun de la Cruz. Registration is free so reserve your spot now.
PITCHING AN AGENT OR PUBLISHER
Sept. 20, 2019; 10:30 – 11:30am
Heliconian Hall
35 Hazelton Ave, Toronto
You’ve written a captivating manuscript? Great, now you have to sell it. Publishing is a business, and convincing a publisher to take a chance on your first or second book can be challenging, especially in an industry that has seen many cutbacks and consolidation. Join this workshop to hear tips from one of the top literary agencies in Canada, as well as publishers; talk to them about your project and ask the questions one-on-one necessary to help your manuscript avoid the dreaded slush pile. Hosted by Diaspora Dialogues at the TOK Toronto Symposium.
